Hi there! I’m Jen, your friendly local massage therapist. I’m so glad you’re here!
I’m proud to have been a licensed massage and bodywork therapist in the Charlotte area for 14 years and I consider it a privilege to help my clients feel better every day.
How did I get here? I got my start right here in North Carolina – Alamance County to be exact. I was born just a hundred miles away from Charlotte in Burlington and had a nice, small-town childhood. I was an average student, and far from an athlete, so I was happy when I found my “thing” in the chorus and musical theater departments. Yes, I was a chorus nerd! I loved every minute of it, and I was so lucky to be able to sing every day at school for seven years.
When I moved to Greensboro for college, I thought I was moving to the “big city”! After dabbling in broadcasting and theater, I graduated from UNCG with a degree in Elementary Education and taught in Guilford and Mecklenburg counties for nine years. I’m proud of the time that I spent in the classroom, and it’s a definite character builder. I learned a lot about patience and perseverance.
Working with kids will help keep your sense of humor when life gets stressful, but after nearly ten years of teaching, I started thinking about a second career – preferably a less stressful one.
After receiving tons of much-needed massage during my teaching years, I knew how meaningful massage therapy could be. And so, inspired by a very cool massage therapist friend, I enrolled in massage school at the Southeastern School of Neuromuscular Massage (now Southeastern Institute) and had a blast.
Since receiving my North Carolina Massage and Bodywork license, I’ve had the privilege of working with many clients over the years, helping them to reconnect with their bodies and live their lives with more ease. Massage is a wonderful blessing for all of us!
In my free time, I love spending time with my friends and loved ones (including a few sweet animals), playing music in two local bands (Hardcore Lounge and The Mary Massie Band), and participating in weekly jam nights and guitar lessons. Camping, swimming, and gardening are a few of my favorite activities. I also enjoy super crafty things like knitting and soap-making.
Thanks so much for visiting my site, and thanks for your interest in my massage practice!
